Peticure

I got my nails done today. I don't know exactly what that means, but Melissa kept saying it. All I know is that I got to go to my favorite place (so many different smells!!!) and then what was my favorite place became my least favorite place.

You see, I got tied to a stick and then some human that I didn't know began to mess with my feet. I had no idea what was going on!!! I usually like any human, but not this one. Don't worry I would never bite anyone, I just tried to get away. This human was smart though because she tied me to a stick first. Those smart humans...

I finally got the hang of it, and realized that she wasn't going to hurt me.

I still didn't like it. Look at my tail!! All the way between my legs.

All done!! And giving mom a big smile!

No matter how much I hated getting my claws shortened, it is much better than getting them done at home. Usually Melissa would have to lie on top of me, and Ryan would try to clip my claws shorter. When I say try, I really do mean try. It wouldn't really work. It was more like a wrestling match then anything else productive. None of us liked the process. Going to my favorite store is much better than wrestling at home.

clean

What can I say... I like being clean. I like things being clean. When I get a bath I get so excited when it is over. All I want to do is play and show the alpha how thankful I am that he cleaned me. It is the best!

One thing that is almost better than myself being clean, is when my blankets in my kennel get cleaned, or any clothes for that matter. I just want to snuggle up on them and take a nap. Sometimes I won't even sleep in my kennel because my blankets are too dirty for me (even though they still get washed once a week.) High maintenance? Maybe. You can't fault a dog for wanting to be clean.

Are other dogs like me?

New Puppy

Ryan and Melissa brought their new puppy home. Our little pack now has 1 more!! At first I was a little confused about what they brought home with them. I didn't know that humans came that small!! Plus, she makes really funny noises.

I have started to love the new addition, but it is now my responsibility to keep her safe. Every night when she howls, I go in and check on her at the same time Melissa does. I just want to make sure that she is ok, plus those noises she makes are really weird.

I always want to be near her, and lick her face. Ryan and Melissa won't let me lick her yet, which makes me sad, but Ryan is the alpha so I have to listen to him.

Here is how I reacted the first time that I met her:

Now I am totally comfortable with the new little puppy.

Today

I caught a mouse today!! I was the proudest dog in the world. Ryan and Melissa were outside putting some smelly green stuff on a shelf for their puppy that is coming, and I came up to them with a present in my mouth. I wanted to show them what I caught. I knew they would be proud of me too.

I dropped the mouse in front of Melissa and looked up at her with a big puppy smile on my face. "Are you proud of me mom?" She didn't seem too proud... she kept saying "Oh!! Ryan, it twitched. The poor mouse. Oh! Put it out of its misery!" I don't know what she was complaining about. It was just a mouse. A mouse that I caught all by myself! Where is the pride in your favorite dog... huh?

Melissa may not have been very proud of my accomplishment, but Ryan sure was!! He gave me so much praise, which only got me more excited and proud of myself. I caught a mouse and protected the family just like I should. But, he wasn't proud for too long... He found out what I had to do in order to get the mouse, and then he got angry. What for?! All I did was dig up the backyard trying to get the mouse out of the grass. No big deal! I caught a mouse! Even though I got in trouble for digging, he still seemed proud that I had hunted down the mouse. He likes to hunt too. Maybe that's why we get along so well.

I caught a mouse today!! I am such a happy dog!

This was me today while they were making dinner. I try to be cute as often as I can, just to make up for all the times that I will be naughty in the future. I think it is a good plan.

Healthy Me

I love going to the doctor!!!! How many dogs do you know that can say that? I just love meeting new people, and smelling new smells. Oh yeah, all those smells are amazing. I guess I don't like everything about the doctor, especially the part where they put something up my. . . well, nevermind. I don't even want to talk about it I hate it so much.

I do love getting all the treats though. I totally turn on the charm, and everyone falls instantly in love. I LOVE my treats!

I had to get poked this time, which wasn't the most fun I had that day. The alpha kept telling me that it was good for me so I don't get sick. I guess I have to believe him. He takes such good care of me. I just wish taking care of me didn't have to hurt sometimes.

So, I guess I am healthy. The doctor liked how shiny and sleek I am. Not to brag or anything, but I am one good looking mutt (at least that is what my alpha's mate tells me all the time). I like being healthy. And I like being a dog. And I like writing on the lab-top, even if no one reads it. . .

Good Dog!

Stay is my best trick (and the one I get the most treats for...)

Life in the great outdoors

I use to live outside all the time, but ever since I found my human pack I have only visited the park, and gone for walks. Obviously, I don't get out as much as I use to.

And I tell you what? I like living inside!

My pack recently took me camping up high in the mountains, and I had a really good time. But I was so tired by the end. My paws are pretty sore, so I don't want to touch these stupid buttons more than I have to. Here are some pictures from my camping adventure.

Here I am with my pack. They are going to be having puppies!! I am excited to have someone new to play with . . .

Just showing the alpha how good of a dog I am.

Ok, now you probably know what this floppy little thing is, but I tried to figure it out while I was camping, and I got no where. The alpha was calling them fish . . . Good thing he knew what to do with it. I just wanted to play with it.

When it got dark, I really liked being in the tre. . . tent? I don't care what it is really called. It felt like a big kennel.

I love my alpha! He kept me safe when it got dark.

I told you I was tired. Even the rocks felt comfortable. I don't know how I lived outside for so long before. Maybe I just had too much fun camping that it wore me out.

A day in the life

I have got to say, being a dog is wonderful!

Take today for example:

I woke up, and without even asking, was given something to eat. I didn't have to beg or anything!! It was just there waiting for me. Three times a day I get fed the same thing, and you know what? I love it. Every time my owners ask if I am hungry, of course I perk up my ears. Or to the word "breakfast", or especially "treat". Oh yes. I love those words. Because when they say those words I get food. I live for food. . . and sleep. . . and playtime. . . and food.

After my beg-less breakfast I took a nap while my owner played on this contraption I have heard them call a. . . oh biscuit, what do they call it. . . a lab. . . a lab something. Lab. . .top? Whatever. What is the fascination with that little box anyway? I had to find out for myself, so here I am, doing what humans do (some of them all day from what other dogs in the neighborhood tell me.)

I can see why they like it so much, especially when you have longer paws like humans do, and you know of a place called YouTube. Did you know that you can see chickens any time that you want, all by looking at the little lab. . . box? It is awesome!! I love chickens (and anything else with wings). They are never going to tear me away from this thing. . . I could watch chickens all day. If only I could just taste them. . .

After my nap, I had to get into my kennel because my owners were leaving. No complaints here! I love that word: "kennel". Oooo, I get excited every time I hear it. Well, not every time. Sometimes when I am told to get into my kennel I give my owners the "are you serious?" look, or the "do I have to?" look. They seem to know what I am trying to tell them, but they never take me seriously. No matter how cute I try to be, they still put me in there. Oh well, most of the time I like my kennel. It is my safe place, not to mention I get to sleep when I go in there, and I get a treat every time (mmm peanut butter. . .) Two of my favorite things.

When they got home, I was so excited!! When am I not excited? When I am asleep. Pretty much. I love when the alpha plays with me. I go crazy!! I love when we can be silly. I run all over and bang into every wall that I possibly can. It makes me so happy. I really can't think straight, I grab anything in my mouth that I possibly can and run around with it. They seem to think it is funny, so I keep doing it. My owners especially like it when I run on the cold hard, slippery floor, because then I have even less control. I love play time!!

Now it is nap time again. Hopefully I will get to snuggle with the alpha owner. That would make today even better.
